The geodisc series is an experiment into creating ceramic discs which utilise geological stones from different locations as a recording mechanism. Throughout all stages of the discs creation the stone inclusions radically affect the form; they disrupt the throwing process, and tear, crack and puncture the structure during the drying and firing. The stones that have been incorporated have been gathered from Norland Moor in West Yorkshire, Birch Tor on Dartmoor and from near Devil’s Bridge in West Wales.
